New Painting * Rise From the Ashes

Hello everyone, I finished another Life Book inspired painting which I’ve named ‘From the Ashes’.
I painted it to explore the situations we can sometimes find ourselves in, when going through a hard time in life, we can feel destroyed, burnt to the ground in a pile of ash on the floor.
I wanted this painting to show how we all have the ability to rise from the ashes and renew ourselves, it takes courage, self-love and determination, but it is possible.

I talk about this more in the video linked below.

Life Book 2017 painting – Finding Peace

I finished another life book lesson! This painting represents finding peace within a busy urban environment, as some of you may know in 2015 I experienced a huge change in the peacefulness of my area when a concentrated flight path for Heathrow Airport was diverted to over my home with no warning!!! I am moving!!

New Painting – Inner Strength

I managed to complete a painting over xmas :) it was actually inspired by a Life Book 2017 lesson but looks nothing like it.
It features the solar plexus chakra ‘Manipura’ as I do believe that chakras exist, I’ve only drawn a guy about 3 times so it was a good practice :)

Bronze leaping cat, Zhou Dynasty, China 400 bc painting

Hi all, I’m sharing some of my painted sketches from a few months ago starting with this one of a bronze leaping cat, I saw it at the British Museum and adored the design, style, aesthetic, the form and colour. It is simply adorable so I decided to sketch it too..
I love this cat..

Watch me paint this whimsical girl with her pet ginger tom cat

Hello again, I am back with the video of my sweet girl and cat painting, I’ve added text to explain the steps taken towards making her and set it to relaxing music.
This weekend will be a busy one for me as I have a number of different projects to catch up on and new ones to start too!!
More on this later.
Health and fitness wise I’ve managed to find a diet that suits me quite well, it’s not really a diet but more a way of eating that is in line with maintaining a healthy body.
I will also start going to the gym next week… hopefully.. lol I’ll let you know if I manage to do it. In the meanwhile I’m continuing with my youtube workouts!! :)

Painting x-ray style flowers – January calendar journal page

Phew! I just managed to get January’s calendar art journal page uploaded in time :). This month I tried to create flowers in an x-ray style using both transparent and opaque acrylic paint. The technique involved creating wispy smoke-like paint strokes on a dark background of black gesso.
I have a process video below the photo.
Next time I will be showing you my new art journal for 2016, I’ve decided to use a Paperchase scrapbook album and will be testing it with a variety of different paints :).
